Girls Active

Girls Active is a national campaign that aims to get more girls active by working with schools to tackle the negative stigma around Physical Education

Did you know by the age of seven, girls are on average, already less active than boys?

Girls Active, funded by the National Lottery and delivered by the Youth Sports Trust, aims to get more females active by tackling negative attitudes towards Physical Education (PE) and motivating them to take part in more physical activity.

Working with Sport England and the National Lottery funded This Girl Can which is a nationwide campaign that aims to get more women active, Girls Active reaches out to teachers to work with girls and make changes in their PE lessons with the aim of getting girls more active in sport. To date, more than 200 schools are a part of the Girls Active network with more expected to join.

Girls who are already involved in the programme will have the chance to celebrate their achievements in getting more of their peers involved with the Girls Active Awards. The awards are a celebration of the work eight to 18-year-old girls are doing in primary and secondary schools across the UK through the programme to get their peers moving and enjoying PE and physical activity.
