National Football Museum

The world’s biggest football museum pays homage to the stories of the beautiful game.

Football has been a part of our sporting culture for hundreds s of years, creating memorablemoments such as the World Cup winning England team of 1966, Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles,’ or the treble-winning Manchester United team of 1999., in addition tothe countless fierce local derbies played in all regions of the country.

The National Football Museum, located in the heart of Manchester, aims to remember and preserve football’s heritage and culture for future generations. Here you can view the first ever FA Cup medal, the shirt Howard Webb wore when refereeing the 2010 World Cup final and the football used as England beat West Germany 4-2 in the 1966 World Cup final.

National Lottery players not only helped build the museum but also helped acquire some of the items on show such as the oldest surviving FA Cup trophy and some of the exhibitions too.

The museum boasts more than 140,000 items including trophies, boots, kits and other memorabilia but also plays host to great exhibitions, school visits and community programmes.

Open 7 days a week the museum is accessible to all. To find out more about National Lottery funded National Football Museum, visit https://www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/
