14th Ebrill 2014
Commonwealth Games volunteer Alan Emerson will be heading to Glasgow this summer and hoping to join him is 400m hurdler Jason Harvey.
The pair got together to mark the 100 day countdown (Monday 14 April) to the Games in Scotland at a National Lottery event at the Sports Institute Northern Ireland (SINI).
Alan, 37, a civil servant from Belfast, has already volunteered at the London Olympics in 2012 and the World Police and Fire Games in Belfast last summer.
SINI-supported athlete Jason, 23, is one of the country's leading lap hurdlers and is hopeful of clinching a place in the Northern Ireland team when it is announced later this year.
The National Lottery has invested more than £128 million in sport in Northern Ireland from grassroots to elite level.
Vicki Kennedy, from the National Lottery, said: "We are all looking forward to a spectacular summer of sport. "But it is not just about sport. The National Lottery has supported volunteering programmes which enable people from all walks of like involve themselves in the delivery of high profile events and make them come alive. Alan Emerson is a real example of the volunteering legacy of the Olympic Games.
"In 100 days time, when the Games kick-off, we hope to be celebrating the achievements of our athletes and volunteers and National Lottery players should be proud of their role in helping them get there."
