Flick book take on Billy Elliot draws attention to National Lottery Funding
7th Ionawr 2014
Brit flick favourite Billy Elliot has been recreated in the form of a flick book animation by the National Lottery to celebrate Day 7 of its Just Imagine campaign.
Just Imagine is The National Lottery’s new nationwide campaign, launched January 1, to raise awareness of the massive impact that £31 billion in project funding has had across the UK since the first National Lottery draw 20 years ago this year – which includes £431 million distributed to the British film industry through 12,837 grants by the BFI.
Billy Elliot was a National Lottery funded box office hit in the year 2000 and won three Baftas including Best British Film. Released ahead of the this year’s Bafta nominations announcement on Wednesday, the 10 second animation faithfully recreates the iconic ballet studio dance scene featuring Jamie Bell’s ‘Billy’ and his ballet teacher Sandra Wilkinson, played by Julie Walters.
