More National Lottery Dosh For Doncaster - campaign launch

5th Chwefror 2015

A new campaign, ‘Dosh for Donny’, will help more groups, clubs and people in Doncaster get National Lottery funding.

Over the coming weeks, the distributors of National Lottery funding are making a special effort to raise awareness of the money that is available and to help more people in Doncaster apply for it.
Help will be at hand for potential applicants in Doncaster at a special event at the Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday 4 March.

Since the National Lottery started in 1994, £75 million of Lottery funding has gone to 1,200 Doncaster projects including Doncaster Women’s Aid, Warmsworth Cricket Club, Doncaster Community Arts and Conisbrough Castle.

While National Lottery funding has made a significant difference in the area, the organisations responsible for giving out the money believe a greater number of small grants could be awarded - anything from £300 up to £10,000.

Jackie O’Sullivan, from the National Lottery, said ‘Dosh for Donny’ is a golden opportunity for people in Doncaster to improve their communities:

“We want to get more National Lottery funding into Doncaster and the surrounding areas. Our event on 4 March is for people involved with community centres, school clubs, and sports, voluntary, arts and heritage enthusiasts. Anyone with an idea that will improve lives in Doncaster is welcome to attend. For example, National Lottery funding can be used to buy equipment, start up a group, train volunteers or organise an event, activity or performance.”

Welcoming this new initiative, Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said:

“National Lottery cash has funded some big projects across the borough. We are very grateful for the financial support over the years which has enriched the lives of local people. I would encourage everyone to get involved in the ‘Dosh for Donny’ campaign and bring even more small grants to our area.”

The distributors of National Lottery funding in Doncaster are: The BIG Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund, Sport England, Arts Council England, British Film Institute, UK Sport.
