Plymouth Divers Make a Splash on National TV

Divers and synchronised swimmers who train at the Plymouth Life Centre will put on an acrobatic display on national TV this Saturday to wish Lotto players good luck.

The National Lottery Live at 9:05pm on Saturday 19 October on BBC One, will feature Tom Daley, Plymouth divers and synchronised swimming team Aquabatix wishing National Lottery players a ‘Lotto luck’ before the new Lotto draw.

The message will be shown as part of the newly launched National Lottery Live draw show fronted by Chris Evans.

Team GB divers Tonia Crouch and Sarah Barrow, who finished 5th at the 2012 Olympic Games, will both demonstrate their diving skills as part of the ‘good luck’ message from Plymouth Life Centre.

Thanks to over £2 million of National Lottery funding, Plymouth Life Centre offers world class facilities in a range of sports and for all sporting abilities.

The centre’s aquatic facilities are the largest of their kind in southern England (outside of the Olympic Village), it has the only 10 lane, 50 metre competition pool in the South West and one of the best diving pools in the country.

National Lottery funding has seen Plymouth Life Centre used by a number of international swimming and diving teams in preparation for London 2012. Today, Plymouth Life Centre is a lasting legacy to the 2012 Olympic Games; using National Lottery funding to inspire people across the UK to achieve life-time participation in sports.

Jackie O’Sullivan, spokesperson for the National Lottery, said “People don’t always make the connection between playing the National Lottery and funding fantastic projects across the UK, which make a massive difference to millions of people’s lives.

“This is the most exciting revamp of Lotto since it launched in 1994 and it’s a great opportunity to showcase some of the amazing projects that have benefitted from the money National Lottery players raise each and every week.”

National Lottery players raise over £35 million for projects every week, and since 1994 a whopping £30 billion has been raised to help more than 400, 000 projects across the arts, sports, heritage, charities, health, education and the environment.
