Fife drumming group on beat for National Lottery TV show

A National Lottery funded drumming group from Fife is set to feature on this Saturday’s (16 November) National Lottery Live TV show on BBC One.

Drumatik Drumming Group is an inclusive community project which has benefitted from over £15,000 of National Lottery funding. Around 80 per cent of its members have a learning disability and the group’s aim is to ensure that everyone can enjoy music and drumming.

Members of Drumatik will be travelling to London to take part in the show and are set to be interviewed live by host, Chris Evans, and feature in a short film about the work that the group do.

Mike Wallace, founder of Drumatik Drumming Group, said: “Drumatik would not be the success it is today without National Lottery funding. We’ve been going for eight years and National Lottery funding helped get us off the ground initially. We’ve recently received further funding to put on more sessions each week and that means we can open our doors to more people.

“People can come to us with very low self esteem, often feeling isolated from the community, and Drumatik provides a friendly place to make new friends, make music, and boost their confidence.

“We are really excited about going to London and appearing on National Lottery Live – it’s an amazing opportunity to show people the difference that Lottery funding has made to our project.”
