'Ooh-Wakka-Doo' What a Day for Fairtrade in Oldham
29th October 2013
Representatives of National Lottery project Fairtrade in Oldham are to star in a primetime television advert, as part of a marketing campaign for The National Lottery’s new Lotto game.
The ‘new dawn for Lotto’ advert will feature Fairtrade in Oldham cooking a chicken korma while singing the alternative lines, ‘From chicken korma to Nessun Dorma’, to Gilbert O’Sullivan’s catchy classic ‘Ooh-Wakka-Do-Wakka- Day’. The charity makes its national TV debut on 15 October.
Fairtrade in Oldham received National Lottery funding for cookery workshops, which use only fairtrade and locally-sourced ingredients.
Fairtrade in Oldham’s involvement illustrates how every time people play The National Lottery, they are helping people and places on their doorstep.
Judith Haughton, from Fairtrade in Oldham, said:
“I didn’t realise all the hard work that goes into the filming of an advert; the day was very different to the ordinary, and very enjoyable. It was exciting to all get involved in cooking whilst singing ‘From chicken korma to Nessun Dorma.’
“National Lottery funding has helped us to bring community groups together across Oldham.”
Operator Camelot’s new Lotto advertising campaign demonstrates how the National Lottery is not only life changing for winners, but also for the people involved in National Lottery projects the length and breadth of Britain.
